8. ANSWER FOR CALIBRATION EXAMPLE
Start count |
End count |
Increment |
|
Ride 1 |
70015 |
77120 |
7105 |
Ride 2 |
78180 |
85286.5 |
7106.5 |
Ride 3 |
86310 |
93414.5 |
7104.5 |
Ride 4 |
95473 |
02580 |
7107 |
Average count = (7105 + 7106.5 + 7104.5 + 7107) / 4 = 7105.75
Calibration constant = 7105.75 / 652.34 *1.001= 10.904counts / m
However, we normally work with counts / km, so calibration constant = 10904 counts / km
NB. Did you spot that on ride 4 the counter "rolled over" and we had to add 100,000 to the end count. You must watch out for this both on calibration rides but also of course on measurement rides. As an additional exercise now using the calibration constant we have just worked out, calculate how far one rides between roll-overs.
