Surface city streets/ urban roads/ country lanes. All tarmac, but some in poor condition. 
Configuration out and back leg to anti-clockwise loopThe course has the same start and finish as the 20 miles, but with an extra loop circuit of about 6 miles. Positionning of the turn-round on the out and back section on Ash Road South enables length adjustment. 
Section of Road start has temporary closure through the town centre, thereafter runners are instructed to keep to the left hand half of the road except on single track lanes.
