Course Name | Haverhill 10k |
Race Name | Haverhill 10k |
Distance | 10km |
Measured By | Roger Hobson, Grade: 2 |
Measured On | 20 Mar 2014 |
Race Type | multiterrain |
Terrain | The route is mostly on roads but also makes use of a disused rail track and footpaths through a park. It is largely flat with a few modest inclines. |
Surface | The surface is mostly tarmac or concrete but with about 1.8km on soil which can range from bone hard to very muddy - also some on loose chippings. |
Configuration | It comprises basically a long thin loop with short sections at the start and finish to get onto/off the loop. |
Section of Road | The first part of the course is on closed roads with entire width available. The route is then on footpaths until the extreme east end of the course when runners use the right pavement other than a short section where pavement is missing to return |
Right Turns | Initially take right turns using the shortest route as roads closed. After the section on footpaths, on the return journey, they use the pavement and there are no right turns until near the finish where they veer right using the left half |
Comments | A short section on the return journey back into Haverhill, where the pavement is missing is a potential hazard. The runners are on the right and facing the traffic and the section will be marshalled and signed. |
