| Terrain | Extremely hilly, with very little flat stretches. Long uphills and severe downhills. A challenging course. Only flat stretches are on the cycle path. |
| Surface | Most of the course is on tarmac, either on the road, pavement or cycle path. There is a stretch of red blaes at one point on the cycle path which lasts for roughly 200m. |
| Configuration | The course route is complicated. It starts with clockwise, followed by an anti-clockwise loop, then goes back to clockwise, followed by an anti-clockwise loop, then goes anti-clockwise back to the finish. |
| Section of Road | Most of the road running is on narrow country roads. Pavements are only used on Menzies Drive and Calfmuir Road. |
