Terrain An undulating course with some very flat sections along the Nene Valley and some short, sharp hills on some roads. A series of wide steps are used in an upwards direction between miles 2 and 3. 
Surface The surface is all tarmac to varying degrees. Roads, Paths, Towpaths, Footpaths, Pavements and Steps are all used.  
Configuration The course is a single loop, run clockwise, starting, and finishing at the same point in the centre of Northampton. 
Section of Road On the road sections runners must keep to the left-hand side unless otherwise directed. On Footpaths, Paths and Towpaths the whole path is available. Pavements are allowed 
Right Turns The route takes the shortest line
